Plaque: 35. PHIL NIEKRO. Milwaukee Braves 1964-65. Atlanta Braves 1966-83, 1987. Dedicated: April 10, 1986. Sculptor: Ed Dwight. Winningest knuckleball pitcher in major league history with 318 wins. Won a career-high 23 games in 1969, leading Braves to the Western Division title. Won five Gold Glove awards and compiled three seasons of 20 or more victories. Led NL with a 1.87 ERA in 1967, and starts, innings pitched and complete games four times. Threw a no-hitter to beat San Diego on August 5, 1973, at Atlanta Stadium. Phil and his brother, Joe, hold the record for most victories by brothers with 539. Led Braves staff with a 17-4 mark and topped NL with an .810 winning percentage at age 43 to help Braves win the Western Division title in 1982. Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 and Braves Hall of Fame in 1999.
