The Royals were quickly established as a model franchise with innovative programs to develop young players. Kauffman Stadium, one of baseball's most beautiful ballparks, was opened in 1973, and named in Mr. K's honor in 1993. During their ownership, the Royals won six division championships, two American League pennants and the World Series in 1985. Mr. and Mrs. K's legacy continues with a visionary plan to keep baseball in Kansas City. Dedicated June 25, 1999 Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
