Vinick and Beth Vinick Hayashi in honor of Jeffrey Marc Vinick. In recognition of Dr Sidney Farber, whose vision and fierce determination to cure childhood cancer changed the course of the disease, and his 12-year-old patient Einar “Jimmy” Gustafson, whose bedside broadcast on Truth or Consequences in 1948 moved New Englanders to champion the fight against cancer. Their remarkable relationship led to the creation of the Jimmy Fund. Generations have supported the Jimmy Fund ever since, giving hundreds of millions of dollars to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the fight against cancer in children and adults. This depiction shows “Jimmy” in his original 1948 Boston Braves shirt.
