Plaque 2: TRIBUTE to ED BAYNE. Ed Bayne Head Coaching Record. Head Coach: 1948, 1952-1973, 1988-1992. State Championships: 20 (1952, 1954-1967, 1969-1971, 1988-1992). Legion World Series Appearances: 4 (1958, 1960, 1961, 1962). Born August 6, 1915, Ed's Father Andrew a "tough Scot" and Matilda, "an angel of a mother" endowed Ed with a high set of values that he and Marcia passed on to their three kids, Ed, J.Jack, and Marcia as well as their grandchildren and great grandchildren. The most rewarding part of coaching to Ed is manifest in the comments from former players. Pete Cochran said, "Ed was like a second father to me." Gary Ahlgren said, "I know he was a big influence in my life. He taught the traditions of baseball and things about life you don't realise until you get older." Lis Rohr said, "If it wasn't for Ed I wouldn't have done what I did. He taught me right from wrong." Ron Billstein said, "he was tough, he challenged you to reach the level your ability would allow. He showed respect for you whether you were the last guy in the dugout or one of the best players. We learned the fundamentals of baseball but we learned also how to be successful in life." Woody Hahn said, "he lived a great life and did an awful lot for a lot of us. We appreciate the time spent with us." Dedicated June 29th 2008. Sculptor: Lyle E. Johnson. Assisted by: Willis E. Johnson. Jonathan E. Johnson. Project Manager: Greg Pekovich.
