Inscription(s): Plaque: Masters of the Dugout. Reds managers Sparky Anderson (at the rail) and Bill McKechnie (on the bench) highlight this dugout scene. Both won the World Series while managing the Reds and both won the World Series while managing other clubs. Anderson won the 1984 World Series with the Detroit Tigers, and McKechnie led the 1925 Pirates to a World Championship. McKechnie also managed the Cardinals to a pennant in 1928 making him the only manager to win pennants with three different National League clubs. Anderson and McKechnie rank first and second in Reds history in number of wins as managers. Both are in the Reds Hall of Fame and they are the only Reds managers in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Reds are one of only three teams to have more than one manager honored in Cooperstown (along with the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers). The other two managers honored in the dugout scene are Pat Moran (plaque) and Fred Hutchinson (jersey). Both men passed away while managing the Reds. Moran died suddenly during spring training in 1924, and Hutchinson succumbed to cancer in November, 1964. Both Moran and "Hutch" managed the Reds to World Series appearances. Moran won in 1918 and Hutchinson's 1961 Reds lost to the Yankees. Hutchinson's number "1" was retired by the club in 1965, and he was elected to the Reds Hall of Fame in the same year.
