Plaque: BRIAN CHARLES LARA. THE PRINCE OF PORT OF SPAIN. Mr Brian Lara was born in Santa Cruz, Trinidad in 1969 and his debut in international test cricket was in 1990. He holds the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket, with 501 not out and is the only batsman ever to have scored a hundred, a double century, a triple century, a quadruple century and a quintuple century in first class games. Mr Lara also holds the highest record of 28 runs off a single over scored at a Test match. Many international awards have been bestowed on this tremendous sportsman including an honorary doctorate from Sheffield University in England. This statue was unveiled on January 9th 2011.
